A New Beginning

I have titled my first entry a new beginning because it is just that…A new beginning for ME. I am embarking on a natural journey of living. If you look around us there seems to be a trend of “Natural”. We have our hair, body products, food and more. The first part of my journey I started 8 years ago with my hair. I made a decision to quit chemically processing my hair. Harsh chemicals and straight irons have wrecked havoc on my hair. Over the years I have searched the net and different blogs. I’ve dabbled in the kitchen mixing up my own concoction of hair products. I am very fortunate enough to have a mother that has my same interest. I used to sit in the kitchen and watch her making hair oils, soaps, anything that you could imagine. So I guess it’s just in my blood. To make something natural that will help others. I am far from an expert but I am learning along the way a little at a time. The second part of my journey is to live in a healthy body. In my younger years I actually grew up in a vegetarian household. We lived that way for years until it became just so much to feed a family of six uber healthy meals. I have gone through stages of my life where I turn on my vegetarian card every now and again but I never tend to follow through. I am at a point in my life right now where I said enough is enough. A very good friend of mine took the journey to becoming a vegetarian, months back. It was through her that I found my inspiration to finally follow through. With her help I have decided to start this blog on healthy hair and food. I know that so many of us struggle with wanting to start but find it so overwhelming. That is where we come in. Two ordinary Southern girls who want to live a clean life! It took me days to come up with the perfect name for this blog. I incorporate black beans in many of my dishes that I prepare and I tend to use honey in the hair products I create. So with those two elements the name Black beans and Honey was born. When I ran the idea by my girlfriend she said “Cool can I be black beans?” Ahhhh, how perfect was that! We will post recipes, stories, pictures, videos and maybe a bit of inspiration. There will be triumphs, defeats, rewards and challenges, but we will get through it together and hopefully give our readers something that they can learn from. I hope you will continue to visit, share with everyone you can and enjoy this natural journey of living.

Signed,
Honey
